studio - rios / architecture was formed with the purpose of providing individualized attention to the growing market of sustainable architecture and green design. The goal is to provide a dedicated service to individuals interested in one-on-one attention to their needs.
The current social climate illustrates a greater acceptance for hybrid vehicles, organic farming and energy saving appliances, the climate to address such needs is ever growing.
Currently, large firms tend to ignore individual home design because of the lower profit margins while preferring to pursue commercial commissions to sustain their large overhead.
One aspect that gets lost in large firms is the personalize attention with the client at the residential level. In some firms residential architecture is secondary to commercial or institutional work and therefore not given the priority that it deserves. This has always been an issue with him because, in many cases, once the contract is signed, the client is assigned a staff architect instead of dealing directly with the main designer. He never felt comfortable in that situation and among other issues; it motivated him to open his own firm.
